Object Sorting Using Color Detection

This project report on "object sorting using color detection" is final year project for Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. Through this report, the color identification, the basic color theory and the applications of the color sensor will be reviewed. In this report, we will be focusing on the application of color sensor using conveyor system for sorting RGB color. You can also subscribe to FINAL YEAR PROJECT'S by Email for more such projects and seminar.

Instrumentation Project on Object Sorting Using Color Detection

This project uses TCS230 Color Sensor for detecting RGB color and it is the main component of the project. The TCS230 has an array of photodetectors, each with either a red, green, or blue filter, or no filter (clear). The filters of each color are distributed evenly throughout the array to eliminate location bias among the colors. The usage of this sensor includes sorting by color and color matching. Certain matters shall be looked upon to complete this project. Information concerning color sensor, their function, application and Basic Stamp programming should be searched through many ways such as the internet, journals, and books. Information on how to program Color Sensor must be learning in order to program this application into reality.

With the use of the Color Sensor, Basic Stamp programmer and ATMEGA 16 microcontroller, this project on "object sorting using color detection" explores the possibility of creating a mechanism that can sort RGB colors. In this project, the main objective is to create a program that can identify red, green and blue colors and fabricate a mechanical system for identifying RGB color by using a conveyor. The other objective also includes the understanding of the application of color sensor in an automated system by related literature review.

Color sensing circuit- Object Sorting Using Color Detection

The color sensing circuit of the project contains 3 different colored LED emitter and 3 separate receivers. The light is reflected off of the target such as a blue piece of paper and returns to the sensor. The receivers are tuned to look for a specific wavelength of light working out its RGB or Red, Green and blue values. The light sensors are able to record the components of the reflected light and its intensity. The sensor then compares these values to the settings on the computer to determine the necessary action. Many of the color sensors today have the ability to recognize Red, Blue, Green (RGB) or primary.

This project report contains all the details which you need to make your own project like microcontroller programming, working, circuit diagram, etc. Please use this project report for your reference and study only.
