Seminar on Bicycle Brake
Today in this seminar report we are going to discuss little about bicycle brake. A bicycle brake reduces the speed of a bicycle or prevents it from moving. The 3 main varieties are: rim brakes, disc brakes, and drum brakes. There are numerous sorts of brake used throughout history, and several other ar still in use these days. Most bicycle brake systems encompass 3 main components: a mechanism for the rider to use the brakes, like brake levers or pedals; a mechanism for transmission that signal, like Bowden cables, hydraulic hoses, rods, or the bicycle chain; and therefore the brake mechanism itself, a caliper or drum, to press 2 or additional surfaces along so as to convert, via friction, mechanical energy of the bike and rider into thermal energy to be dissipated. Mainly there are three types of bicycle brakes which are used majorly in their times. Three types of brakes are Spoon brake or plunger brake, Duck Brake and Rim brakes.
The spoon brake, or plunger brake was in all probability the primary style of bicycle brake and precedes the pneumatic tire. Spoon brakes were used on penny farthings with solid rubber tyres within the 1800s and continued to be used when the introduction of the pneumatic-tyred safety bike. The spoon brake consists of a pad (often leather) or metal shoe (possibly rubber faced), that is ironed onto the highest of the front tyre. These were nearly always rod-operated by a right-hand lever. In developing countries, a foot-operated type of the spoon brake generally is retrofitted to previous rod brake roadsters. It consists of a elastic device flap connected to the rear of the fork crown. this is often depressed against the front tyre by the rider's foot.

Invented in 1897, the duck brake, aka Duck Roller Brake used a rod operated by a lever on the bar to drag twin friction rollers (usually fabricated from wood or rubber) against the front tyre.
