CNC and Rejection Control

This is a Mechanical engineering internship report on "CNS and Rejection control", where we see how the CNC machine is used for different operations in an industry and what are the different components of the CNC machine and what makes it different from other special-purpose machines. You can also subscribe to FINAL YEAR PROJECT'S by Email for more such projects and seminar.

CNC Machine Mechanical Project

According to Wikipedia Numerical control (also computer numerical control, and commonly called CNC) is the automated control of machining tools (drills, boring tools, lathes) and 3D printers by means of a computer.

A CNC machine processes a piece of material (metal, plastic, wood, ceramic, or composite) to meet specifications by following a coded programmed instruction and without a manual operator.

Recommended Project: Implementation of Fagor CNC And PLC System For Batliboi Vertical Milling Machine

Choosing the CNC method for your production is a more convenient and flexible method in which the sequence of operations can be changed to machine a new part. This can be applied to short production runs or even a single part. Complexes setting up procedures are almost bypassed in these machines.

If you want to select the CNC tooling, you should choose factors such as rigidity of tooling against higher cutting forces, to give high accuracy, variety of operations to be done, to keep the downtime minimum by having provision for quick changing of tools or jobs in minimum possible time, Interchangeably to produce the same accuracy on all the jobs.

Functions of CNC

The functions of CNC are:-
1. Machine tool control.
2. In-process Compensation.
3. Improved programming and operating features.
4. Diagnostics.

Advantages of CNC Machines

1. More Flexibility.
2. Reduced Data Reading Error.
3. Online Editing of program
4. Diagnostics
5. Conversion of units
6. Integration with DNC system

Disadvantages of CNC

1. High Initial Cost.
2. High Maintenance Cost.
3. Skilled CNC Personnel.

CNC Programs are made up of blocks and each block is made up of words. A word in the CNC language consists of an address character and a digit or sequence of digits representing an arithmetic value. The address character of the word is usually a letter. The sequence of digits can contain a leading sign and decimal point. The leading sign always appears between the address letter and the sequence of digits. The Positive leading sign(+) does not have to be specified.

A CNC program consists of individual blocks. A block generally consists of (several) words. A block should contain all the data required for performing an operation step “and is terminated with the character “LF” (LINE FEED=new line). For more codes of the CNC machine, please check the report.

This internship report also contains some reference to the coding functions of CNC turning machines and other details. Please use this for your reference purpose only.
