Analysis of Automatic Forklift System

"Analysis of automatic forklift system" is a Mechanical and Automation (MAE) Engineering final year project and the main objective of this project is to design a forklift system provided with automatic control system by help of CAD tools and to conduct a thorough analysis of such system. Forklift system is a complex designing system consists of various movable parts. Designing of such system takes a lot of time and effort from designer. But by utilizing CAD tools, we are able to reduce the time applied and effort. The non-CAD designing becomes a tiresome process in which entire part is designed without keeping in mind the references of other parts. This result in problems for interference during assembly causing loss of time and money. The entire part has to design again thus delaying the project. Problems in tolerance and geometric dimensions is prominent is such scenarios.



Analysis of Automatic Forklift System



Even if we are able to design forklift system successfully, we would have no assessment of working of forklift before production in non-CAD designing. Forklift will be manufactured and then will be analyzed on basis of its working and properties. This will result in loss of capital and production time. If the forklift April not able to pass any parameter, the entire batch will be rejected leading to failure of production.

Even if production succeeded, forklifts are driven by human workers. It will mean additional cost as we have to train the workers, provide insurance and salary cap. Forklifts are also prone to accidents which results in failure of product and repairing costs.

This project aims to reduce these costs and working lags of forklift system. Project main objective is to design a forklift system provided with automatic control system by help of CAD tools and to conduct a thorough analysis of such system. Analysis consists of mainly -

1. MASS PROPERTIES,
2. STRESS AND FORCE ANALYSIS
3. MATERIAL PROPERTIES.

Project also focus on the automate control system in which the forklift is controlled by programming with help on AVR controllers. This will help in reducing human interaction with forklift and standardized the forklift system. With this system, the risk of injury to employees involving forklifts will be reduced, because forklift is provided with automatic control system. Thus, the operator will no longer be put into dangerous situations.


A forklift truck (or a forklift) is a powered industrial truck used to lift and move loads/materials for short distances.
