Accelerometer Based Hand Action Recognition

Accelerometer based Hand Action recognition is a good final year project to be made by Electronics students and in this project a wearable game controller has been designed that uses accelerometers to acquire action of the hand and then maps an action to an arbitrary keystroke. It should be suitable as input control for video games. Project uses 3 z-axis accelerometers which are placed on tips of the thumb, the index finger and the middle finger, and three accelerometers on the back of the hand for x,y, and z acceleration. Accelerometer Based Hand Action Recognition

The Atmega644 microcontroller read the output of the accelerometers and simulates a finite state machine to compute the gesture and the motion of the hand. In this project accelerometers are used which can measures acceleration from a capacitive sensing cell (g-cell) which forms two back-to-back capacitors.

Recommended Project: Hand Gesture Based Wireless Controlled Robot

Hardware of this hand recognition project consist of PCB for Atmega644 layoput, the accelerometer circuit, and the Pololu USB AVR programmer, which is used as the serial connection between PC and the custom PCB. This report contains block diagram, circuit diagram, high level programming and complete working of this project.
